Self Esteem

I am having a lovely holiday at Noosa with my family. Utterly fabulous. Nothing to do, except relax; nowhere to go, except the pool or the beach.

The record-breaking high temperatures mean that we are spending the middle of the day just schlepping about the airconditioned unit. You will agree that I am spending this time gainfully, by reading, sleeping, and chatting. The occasional cold beer might also be consumed.

Today, I've leisurely painted my toenails, waiting for the post-3 o'clock swim. OPI's "Pinking of you" if you must know. I asked a daughter, who was reading next to me, if she wanted her toenails painted too. She replied, " No thanks Mum. I like my toenails just like they are.

I looked at the tiny pink pearls at the end of her foot. And yes, she's right. They're perfect. How wonderful to know so early in life.

  1. And long may she retain this wisdom. Which I certainly didn't acquire till much, much later. When the perfection had slipped.

    1. Children certainly make you think. That is, when they're not turning your hair gray.

  2. You've made my night with her self-esteem and ability to love herself just as she is. Thank you.

  3. Ok, please send some heat our way..30de below zero is just a bit much for me! I'd pass on the nail polish too since my feet are stuck in woolen socks and boots! Most of the US is super cold..even down south. Somehow, knowing Florida is cold too makes me smile. The cold must been making me mean. However, seeing your sweet girls and knowing they are happy with their looks...makes me smile!

    1. Yaya, I'd willing trade you some sun for snow. Every movement brings us out in a sweat.

Sorry to re-instate moderation. Anonymous is back with his Ugg boots. We thought we got rid of him already, but no...
