Slow

I don't know about you, but for me, the last few months have been an uphill battle to hang on to my sanity.  The busy last term of school,  the Christmas crush and the heat of a tropical summer together felt like the end of Life-As-We-Know-It.

The population of Catchland sorely needed a retreat.

So last week, we caught a plane and flew away.  To our extended family in the Far North, no less.

And here we are, turning laps in the Slow Lane of Life.  It is a good place.

When life is slower, everyone moves a little easier.  There's time to smell the flowers. And splash out on some fun.

On this holiday, some of us are making A LOT of splash. And moving a great deal.

Here is a World Champion Splasher.  If cannon-balling was an Olympic sport, she'd be a medal contender.

When we get out of the water, our days consist of eating and sleeping, eating and shopping, eating and talking.  And then some more eating.

It's a sweet life.

Yesterday, we visited our island home

The resort pool is the size of our back yard.

There was lazing and floating.

And then, not so much floating*.  But recovery was quick.

All this splashing means that the fluffy miscreants below have had stern lectures about laundering themselves.
But they're no better behaved here, than they are at home.

At any rate, we're still not ready to put up our hands* and surrender to real-life just yet.
We have another week.

Can you see their fins and scales beginning to sprout?  Keep looking.  It'll be happening any moment now.

*Not drowning.  Just cool (cruel?) tricks, designed to stop a mothers heart.

  2. Life in the slow lane looks pretty good. And surely those cherubs in the last shot couldn't be cruel? And then I looked more closely and saw wicked little twinkles. Glad you are having fun.

  4. You have such a gift for photography and matching it so wit-fully with words that tell a story in the most amazing way! You gave me a giggle at the imagery of it all - especially the laundry! The girls are just silly cute, no doubt.....enjoy the rest of your stay.

PS. Someday I'm coming there for you to give me a photography lesson....or help me go camera shopping!

  5. What a fun get away...I love the pics, so beautiful..especially the beach scene. Your girls are so cute and growing up fast. Enjoy the holiday and don't even give a second thought to us here in snow country! Actually, I can't complain because it's been a very mild winter so far. Hardly any snow and warmer than usual temps. Sort of like a holiday, but without cute kiddos and palm trees!

  6. Your girls look so happy & relaxed. Great job on the holiday Mummy Catch!

PS - thank you for the excellent advice about getting a battery recharger for the WII controls, it has saved us a bundle!
