She slept late this morning. Then, when she had to wake for school, rolled over and said she wanted to go back to sleep.
She was running a temperature, had aches and pains and felt nauseous. As she explained it, "My tummy is up in my neck".
You know the awful feeling, don't you.
Her good mama scattered sick bags freely across her bed and double-checked each one was within arm's reach (Having been a parent since the time of the ancients, I have learnt through painful experience that there is no such thing as too many bags).
She slept for five hours, while I checked her uneasily every ten minutes and, in between, morosely estimated how long it would be before everyone else in the family succumbed.
When she woke, she bounced out of bed jauntily. "I was sooo tiiirredd Mummy, but now I 'm better".
A little while later, when I wasn't looking, she bolted down five bananas, two pots of yoghurt, an apple and a cream donut, cadged from her sister. All in about a minute. After I had been carefully spacing out dry biscuits and sips of ice-cold water all day.
Better indeed.
We'll see how that works out in a few hours, I guess.
It may be very colourful.

Awwww, so glad she's feeling better. All your great care did the trick!
ReplyDeleteThe recovery of children is awe-inspiring. I hope she stays recovered and that none of the rest of you succumb. Love the description of the tummy in the neck. Urk. Very familiar.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so sweet sleeping. I hope she is truly better. We didn't have bags when our kiddos were sick. We had the "barf bucket"...we always had one under every bed. It sure came in handy when our tummies were in our neck!
